Tea and Tour

Winterbourne Medieval Barn

Winterbourne Medieval Barn was built in 1342 for Thomas de Bradeston, and this nationally important raised-cruck structure survives as a magnificent example of the medieval builders' craft. Come and see the superb medieval roof timbers, and find out how the Barn was built and why it is so important.

The history of Winterbourne Barn and St. Michael's Church are closely linked due to the Patronage of Thomas de Bradeston. But who was he? Come and hear more about this important local medieval figure. Our tour guides will give you a talk on the history of the Barn before taking you over to the Church to point out some of the interesting features discussed. The Tour is followed by tea, coffee and biscuits back in the Medieval Barn, giving plenty of time to talk further with the tour guide and ask questions.

Free car parking on site. Tickets £7.50 available online via the Barn website or on Ticketsource. The primary purpose of the event is to raise money for WMBT and to support conservation, management, maintenance and improvement of the WMBT site.
