History Talk: Bristol Riots
Hawkesbury Upton Village Hall
Hawkesbury Local History Society prsents a talk by ALAN JOCELYN.
Why did the normally peace loving Bristolians riot in October 1831? Did they have any aims or objectives and, if so, were any of them realised? And, why was the riot so ruthlessly quashed? Professor Alan Jocelyn will describe the Bristol Riots in detail, with an emphasis on the causes and conditions that precipitated the riot.
