A Brief History of Music

Winterbourne Medieval Barn

We are delighted to welcome back GreenMatthews after their previous sell-out shows at The Barn. ‘A Brief History Of Music‘ takes you through 600 years of musical history in 90 minutes! From the Middle Ages to the 20th century (with everything in between!) this fun and fast-moving show is a whistle-stop tour of Western musical history.

Featuring long-forgotten songs and tunes (not to mention jokes!) as well as those that are still well-known, Chris Green and Sophie Matthews paint a vibrant and vivid picture of our musical DNA, mixing the familiar and the obscure, the raucous and the reflective, the courtly and the commonplace. Complete with a bewildering array of old instruments such as virginal, rauschpfeife and lute (and that’s just the first 100 years!), as well as modern instruments, this very entertaining show uses tunes, songs and plenty of humour to take you on a musical journey from which you won’t want to return!

Suitable for all ages. Tickets £16 adult, £12 child under 16 (concessions available for people registered disabled). Book online at Ticketsource or via the Barn website below.

Free parking at the Barn. If you require a disabled parking space and/or seating, please email below when you book.

Buses Y1 and Y2 (operated by First) run between Bristol and Yate along Winterbourne High Street half hourly through the evening.
